Professor Umar Danbatta, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission, has said that the earmarking of slots in the 700MHz band for commercial broadband deployment; the re-planning and licensing of the 800MHz, and the 900MHz E-GSM bands for 4G/LTE services; the opening of the 70/80GHz to facilitate broadband deployment; the licensing of the 2.3GHz for 4G/LTE deployment; and the authorization given some Mobile Network Operators to re-farm the 1800MHz for 4G/LTE deployment speak to the opportunities for growth and investment in the Nigerian telecommunication sector.

In keeping with the spirit of its Management's Strategic Vision Plan 2015-2020 as originally enunciated in the 8-Point Agenda, the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, through the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) - a department of the Commission - yesterday held a Roundtable.
The meeting, organised in tandem with GSMA, aimed at strengthening the synergy between USPF and operators in the Nigerian telecommunications industry in order to achieve the objectives of the Universal Access System in Nigeria which essentially focuses on the promotion of greater social equity and inclusion for the people of Nigeria as a conscious strategy to contribute to national economic, social and cultural development of Nigeria.

The commitment of the Board and Management of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, towards achieving measurable and remarkable improvement in the quality of telecommunications services in Nigeria received further concrete expression this morning when the CEO of NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta met his counterpart at the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abdullahi Muhammadu, at the head office of the NSCDC to sign a Memorandum of Understanding.

Representatives of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, this evening joined accomplished private entrepreneurs and other public sector agencies in Nigeria to showcase the nation's investment potential at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
The occasion was a business dinner organised by the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission and the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, in partnership US Embassy in Nigeria and the US Department of Commerce and hosted on the sidelines of the Nigeria-USA Bi-National Commission programmes which commenced earlier this morning.
