The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, yesterday gave another concrete expression to its most renowned tradition of Stakeholder Collaboration, Consultation and Engagement as it partnered with the Senate Committee on Communications to organise the annual retreat for the legislature.
The Retreat with the theme: IMPROVING THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE NATION THROUGH QUALITATIVE TELECOMMUNICATION SERVICES, recorded a good participation by members of the upper house of Nigeria's bicameral legislature.

The Minister of Communications, Honourable Adebayo Shittu, yesterday said the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has impeccably deployed social media networks for public communication and urged all stakeholders to emulate the Commission to expand the frontiers of public sector communication, good governance and national development.
Shittu's voice was amplified by Abdulaziz Mashi, the Permanent Secretary of Federal Ministry of Communications and all stakeholders who met at a 2-Day Seminar on SOCIAL MEDIA FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE SEMINAR: LEVERAGING ICT FOR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT, held at Treasure Suites and Conference Centre in Abuja.

The Nigerian Advancement Awards, an organisation that prides in identifying with achievers to celebrate their successes, yesterday honoured the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Professor Umar Danbatta, with the “Integrity in Public Service” Award.
The award was conferred during the 5th Edition of the annual Nigerian Advancement Awards ceremonies which took place at the International Conference Centre, Abuja under the theme: Strengthening our Democratic Framework - The Roles of the Government, Institutions and Citizens.

The Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta has called on governments and other stakeholders to work in tandem with the NCC to deal with the challenges militating against better service quality in the telecom sector. These challenges include multiple taxation, vandalism and refusal of appropriate authorities to approve Right of Way (RoW) for the deployment of fibre and ancillary infrastructure.
