The Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta, has stated that the Commission's School Support Programmes such as the Digital Awareness Programme (DAP) and the Advanced Digital Appreciation Programme for Tertiary Institutions (ADAPTI), through which computers are supplied to secondary schools and tertiary institutions, were created by NCC to support the acquisition and advancement of digital knowledge of students, their teachers and other members of their communities.

"The Consumer Town Hall Meeting (CTM) was instututed by the NCC as one of the platforms for continuous conversation on the challenges and developments in telecommunications. This year, the focus is on trends in the cyberworld, so the telecom consumers will be adequately informed particularly about the wiles of the criminal users of the Internet in order not to fall victim".
Professor Umar Danbatta, the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC said this today to hundreds of participants at the 48th CTM which held at Oba Okunade Sijuwade Memorial Hall, Ile Ife, Osun State.

The attention of the Nigerian Communications Commission has been drawn to media reports to the effect that 95.7million subscriber registrations are invalid. Understandably, this needs further clarification for the benefit of subscribers and other critical stakeholders who rely on subscriber registration data.
The Commission therefore wishes to clarify that the process of scrubbing registration data submitted by operators is an ongoing one and that so far, over 60million records have been “scrubbed” successfully. “Scrubbing” in telecoms parlance refers to the screening process of verifying biometric and personal information submitted by all operators in respect of each of their subscribers.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is set to use the provisions of the Constitution bordering on national security and interests to prosecute anyone involve in fraudulently activating SIM cards. "Section 148 of the Nigerian Communications Act (NCA) 2003 mandated the Commission to be guided by national interests and security in the execution of its mandate".
Efosa Idehen, NCC's Director of Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement stated this in a paper titled: "Dangers of Dealing on Fraudulently Activated SIM Cards", presented today in Port Harcourt at a regional sensitization workshop focused on issues affecting Subscriber registration.

Strategic collaboration and partnership, a central component of the 8-Point Agenda of the Management of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), got a fillip recently when officials of Ibadan Zonal Office of the Commission paid a courtesy visit on the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN.
Yomi Arowosafe, Controller of NCC Ibadan Zonal Office, who led the NCC team to the Governor's office in Akure gave the Governor a detailed narration on various activities and initiatives of the Commission and solicited the collaboration of the state government particularly on NCC's plan to expand broadband infrastructure and improve the quality of telecoms services in Nigeria.
