The Nigerian Communications Commission, the independent regulator of the Nigerian Telecommunications industry, restated its commitment to accelerate the growth of the telecoms sector for economic diversification, at the Digital Africa Conference & Exhibition Forum, holding at the YarAdua Centre in Abuja from 5th - 7th June, 2018.
The Commission formulated a strategic Vision Plan known as the 8-Point Agenda to achieve this stated the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communication Commission, Professor Umar Garba Danbatta, through Funlola Akiode, Director Licensing and Authorization, NCC.

The Executive Vice Chairman of Nigerian Communications Commission, Professor Umar Garba Danbatta received a delegation from the Nigerian Academy of Engineering on May 31, 2018.
The Vice President of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering, Professor. Fola Lasisi who led the delegation stated in his opening remarks that they have come to express appreciation of the support accorded to them and to strengthen their relationship with the Commission.

NCC participated in the Ministry of Communications 2018 Ministerial Retreat, held at the Dr. Olusegun Aganga Hall, International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Ibadan Oyo State from May 25 - 26, 2018.
At the event, Professor Umar Garba Danbatta, Executive Vice Chairman, NCC, represented by Mr. Sunday Dare, Executive Commissioner, Stakeholders’ Management (ECSM) delivered a presentation on the Implementation of Telecoms Related Goals in the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP).

The Executive Vice Chairman of Nigerian Communications Commission, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, represented by Abigail Sholanke, Director Research and Development at NCC, at the celebration of the International Girls in ICT Day 2018, started her opening remarks on an inspirational tone: “gender should never be seen as a limitation but as a strength and asset.”
The Director described women as endowed natural leaders, planners, administrators and, strategic thinkers mentioning names of great women who helped shaped the course of history. In Nigeria, she noted late Dora Akunyili and, Omobola Johnson as women who attended great heights in the telecoms sector, both were ministers overseeing the Communications industry at different times.

A delegation comprising six top Management of the University of Jos pays a courtesy call to the Executive Vice-Chairman/CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission on May 23, 2018.
The delegation led by Professor Theresa Mmadu, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration of the University of Jos, stated that this visit is premised on establishing a relationship with the Commission and aimed at identifying areas of collaboration with the Commission particularly in the area of Big Data Analytics, ICT, IoT, and Cyber Security and expressed readiness to partner with the Research and Development Department of the Commission to come up with innovative technologies that will help the advancement of humanity and help curb cybercrimes and, train youths in ICT so that they could be self- dependent.
