The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has again charged telecom consumers to be more vigilant while surfing the Internet or carrying out online financial transactions to avoid falling victims of cybercriminal traps.
The Commission re-echoed the call during the 52nd edition of the Consumer Town Hall Meeting (CTM) held in Kura Local Government Area, Kano State on Thursday in continuation of its monthly sensitisation of telecom consumers under the theme: 'Mitigating Effects of Cybercrimes: the roles of the Telecom Consumers.'

Following a tip-off, the Kano Zonal Office of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), in conjunction with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has arrested three persons in the state over fibre cable vandalism and theft.
This is just as the Commission called on telecom consumers to always report cases of cable vandalism to it and law enforcement agencies.

- Set to sign MoU with NCC
The Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research (NISER) has praised the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for liberalising the Telecom Industry.
The commendation came the way of the Commission during a courtesy visit by Dr. Folarin Gbadebo-Smith, Director General of NISER to the Commission's Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has reiterated its delight in offering opportunity to stakeholders, especially students at different levels of education, to visit and learn more about the Commission's regulatory activities.
The Commission stated this during an educational visit/study tour to the Commission by students of the Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna State on Thursday who were taken through a mild process of learning about telecommunications and the various compartments of telecom regulation.

...Urges consumers against patronage
Ilorin, the Capital of Kwara State, on Thursday, played host to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), where officials of the Commission educated and sufficiently sensitised the consumers in the State to the dangers of counterfeit/substandard telecom devices in the country.
At the "Stakeholders Sensitisation on Hazardous Effects of Non-Type Approved Handsets: Impacts on Quality of Service and E-Waste" held inside the Conference Room of the Federal Government Secretariat, Fate Road, Ilorin, the Commission took time to address all the questions raised by the consumers relating to poor services, misconceptions on electromagnetic radiation from base transceiver stations (BTS), 4G/5G networks, among others.
