The following are the Public Notices issued by the Nigerian Communications Commission. By the publication of these notices in print, broadcast or online, the Commission seeks to inform the public of developments and upcoming actions relating to its activites and the Nigerian telecommunications industry.

The Nigerian Communications Commission, the Regulator of the Telecommunications Industry in Nigeria, supports amongst other things, the development of Innovative services and Life changing Solutions leveraging on Information Communications Technologies (ICTs) to promote Indigenous Content Development, economic growth and social advancement in Nigeria.
Pursuant to this objective, the Commission invites entries from Tech Hubs, Startups and Innovation Digital SMEs with promising and adaptable Digital Solutions that will aid in containing the impacts of pandemic and epidemic-prone diseases in Nigeria to a virtual Hackathon. The top three Startups with the most promising Digital Solutions will receive a grant of N3, 000,000.00 (Three Million Naira) each from the Commission to aid the development and deployment of these Solutions in Nigeria.
Requirements
Interested applicants will need to have Solutions that address issues in the under listed fields of interest:
- Health: finding ways to empower Healthcare workers on the front lines and bring support to individuals isolated at home. It should also include solutions to prevent, trace and contain the spread of Coronavirus in Nigeria.
- Community: help with digital communications that will aid the sustenance of economic activities and people to people communication while encouraging social distancing.
- Productivity: Enhance productivity of people working from home during this Lockdown and beyond.
- Education: Easy to Deploy, accessible and cost effective eLearning Solutions for Public Schools.
- Transportation: Improve safety in public transportation facilities in Nigeria.
Evaluation Criteria
The criteria for evaluation of the proposed Digital Solutions include the following:
- Adherence of proposal to stated requirements above.
- Novelty of the proposed Digital Solution.
- Clear problem Statement and explanation of the proposed Solution.
- Each Solution including prototype development must be concluded within 2 months of receipt of the Grant.
- Proof of concept (feasibility of idea with diagram, algorithm, etc.).
SUBMISSION OF PROPOSAL
Submissions will undergo preliminary assessment. The proposals that are adjudged most promising and capable of positively impacting the fight against COVID-19 may be invited for defense of the proposals before a decision is taken on winners.
Interested Tech Hubs, Startups and Innovation Digital SMEs are invited to submit soft copies (email to ; ; ) on or before 5pm, Monday 17th July, 2020. Please note that all emails should indicate ‘Digital Solutions for Covid-19’ in the subject field.
Any proposal submitted after the deadline will be rejected automatically.

In line with the Commission’s policy of participatory regulation and the usual practice of industry wide consultation in carrying out its regulatory functions, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is organizing a stakeholders’ consultation on regulatory framework for Commercial Satellite Communications and related services.
The Commission is desirous of developing frequency licenses, application forms and landing permit for Satellite Based Services and consequently wishes to share the draft documents for comments by relevant stakeholders in order to facilitate finalization of the regulatory framework for Satellite Based Services.
All stakeholders are hereby informed that the Satellite Based Services draft documents have been uploaded on the commission’s website via the following URL:

All stakeholders are invited to peruse the documents and provide feedback/comments. Comments should be sent to the email address by 15th July 2020.
The Commission will finalize the all the conditions for satellite based services by 29th July 2020 after considering comments received from stakeholders.

The attention of the Nigerian Communications Commission has been drawn to fake employment letters in circulation purportedly signed by the Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission.
The Commission hereby warns the general public to be wary of such employment letters from fraudsters and scammers.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (the Commission) is mandated by Section 4(q) of the Nigerian Communications Act 2003 (the NCA), to prepare and implement programmes and plans that promote and ensure the development of the communications industry and the provision of communications services in Nigeria.
Further to this mandate, the Commission considered that the deployment of Fifth Generation (5G) Technology will be beneficial for socio-economic development of Nigeria. The technology is an advancement of existing mobile technologies (2G – 4G) with enhanced capabilities providing new and enhanced mobile communications services.

The West Africa Telecommunications Regulators Assembly (WATRA) founded in 2002 is a consultative and collaborative body of Telecommunications Regulators in the West African sub region to aid and advance development of telecommunications in the sub region and ultimately in Africa.
WATRA seeks an Executive Officer to be based in Abuja, Nigeria responsible for the day-to-day operation of the WATRA Secretariat. The selected Executive Officer will report to the Executive Committee and the Conference of Regulators (CoR). The appointment will be for an initial term of Three (3) years with possibility of one further term of three (3) years in the same conditions. Salary attached to this position is competitive.
