The following are the Public Notices issued by the Nigerian Communications Commission. By the publication of these notices in print, broadcast or online, the Commission seeks to inform the public of developments and upcoming actions relating to its activites and the Nigerian telecommunications industry.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (the Commission) on March 11, 2016 published an Information Memorandum (IM) expressing its intention to auction 2 x 70 MHz in the 2.6GHz Frequency Band on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
At the close of submission of applications and the subsequent evaluation thereof, MTN Nigeria Communications Limited (MTN) emerged as the sole Approved Bidder with an expressed interest to bid for 2 x 30 MHz of the available frequency.
Consequent upon the above, and in accordance with Clause 6.5.3 of the IM which mandates the Commission to provisionally award licence(s) to the Approved Bidder(s) if the aggregate demand is less than or equal to the number of Lots on offer, the Commission is pleased to announce that MTN has been provisionally awarded 2 x 30 MHz frequency in the 2.6 GHz Band.
MTN has 21 days from the date of Provisional Award (June 13, 2016) to pay the Reserve Price less the Intentionto- Bid Deposit (IBD) it has already paid. In the event that MTN fails to pay the fee within the specified period, MTN will lose the Award and also forfeit the IBD.

In line with the practice of industry-wide consultations in carrying out its regulatory functions the Commission in December 2015 published a Consultation Paper in order to garner industry perspective towards developing a regulatory instrument for the provision of National Roaming Services in Nigeria.
Further to this, all industry stakeholders are hereby invited to a Consultative Forum to chart the way forward for the the provision of National Roaming Services in Nigeria.

Re: Notification: Upload of Consultation Paper on Procedures and Guidelines for the Provision of Value Added Services in Nigeria.
We refer to the notification on the above subject matter, wherein the Commission requested stakeholders to submit their comments not later than 30th March, 2016.
Due to popular request from stakeholders who are unable to meet the deadline of 30th March, 2016, the Commission has graciously extended the deadline for submission of comments to 6th April, 2016.

The Nigerian communications commission, the regulator of the telecommunications industry in Nigeria, supports innovations, inventions and research from tertiary institution in the country that are practical, locally realizable and have clear potential of developing the telecommunications industry.
Pursuant to this objective, the commission invites proposals from academics in tertiary institution that have feasible research ideas, capable of replacing or enhancing foreign technologies in the telecommunications industry in Nigeria. It is envisaged that the initiative will help build capacity in the tertiary institution and promote Nigeria’s contribution to the pool of technologies in use in the communications industry.

The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria, hereby informs parties interested in participating in the Auction of Frequency Spectrum Licences in the 2.6 GHz band that the process of the Auction has resumed.
