The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has taken into consideration the ‘International Edition of Europol COVID-19 Global Online Safety Advice for Parents and Carers’ and the ITU’s "Keeping Children Safe Online during the COVID-19 Pandemic" publications.

The Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has inaugurated two inter-agency committees with the mandate to review, collate, commission and communicate in local languages Information and Communication Technology (ICT) projects implemented for Nigerians under President Muhammadu Buhari.
The two Ministerial committees which are Completed Projects Review Committee and Committee on Media Engagmeent in Local Languages are chaired by Ayuba Shuaibu Executive Secretary, Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) and Dr. Usman Gambo Abdullahi, Director, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) respectively.

The Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has explained that the new Strategic Management Plan (SMP) 2020-2024 by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) will be a pedestal to drive the implementation of the Federal Government’s digital economy vision.
The Honourable Minister stated this during the virtual launch of the NCC’s five-year strategy plan in Abuja on Tuesday (23/06/2020), which was attended by few invited officials from the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, the Nigerian Communications Commission, other sister parastatals under the Ministry as well as critical Stakeholders in the telecoms sector, who joined the launch virtually in compliance with the Federal Government’s directives on social distancing.

In line with the objective of creating a seamless strategy to augment its effective management and regulation of the telecommunications sector, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) will on Tuesday 23rd of June, 2020 unveil a five - year (2020-2024) Strategic Management Plan(SMP).
The SMP that will be unveiled that day will leverage the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS) as well as the new National Broadband Plan (NBP) 2020 - 2025 Roadmaps. It will cover the guiding principles and act as the operations manual for the Commission towards actualising the digital economy agenda of the Federal Government in the next five years.

On June 12, Nigeria will be celebrating “Democracy Day” and Twenty-one (21) years of uninterrupted democratic rule. And the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) riding on its mandate to connect Nigeria and create an information rich society, remains on the driver’s seat.
