The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive (EVC/CE) of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Prof. Umar Danbatta, this afternoon led a team of Management staff from the Commission to pay a courtesy call on the Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Right Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila at the latter's office in the National Assembly.

Danbatta was accompanied on the visit by the Executive Commissioner Stakeholder Management of NCC, Mr. Adeleke Adewolu, the Commission's Director Public Affairs, Dr. Henry Nkemadu, and Head, Legislative and Government Relations, Bashir Bello.

The EVC discussed a number of issues with the the Honourable Speaker, particularly regulatory activities targeted at ensuring broadband accessibility, availability and affordability to all Nigerians.

Danbatta also sought the support of the leadership of the House of Representatives in the area of enacting relevant legislations that will further help the Commission to deliver on its mandate of spear-heading the digital transformation for the country in line with the Next Level Agenda of the Federal Government.

The Speaker commended the Commission for its digital economy drive and promised to support the Commission with necessary legislation, saying telecoms has become the life-wire and the engine room of the Nigerian economy.
