The Nigerian Communications Commission celebrated its Special day at the 2018 Abuja International Trade fair at JT. Useni Permanent Trade Fair Complex Airport Road on October 3rd, 2018.

In keeping with one of the Commission’s objectives of driving local as well as foreign direct investment in the country through technology as an enabler of the overall economic growth and development in Nigeria, the theme of the fair was, ‘Enhancing SMEs In Agribusinesses Through Innovative Technology’.

The Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of NCC, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, represented by Mr. Reuben Muoka, NCC's Head of Public Relations, in his keynote address recalled the activities of the Commission, and NCC's commitment to ensuring fairness to the consumer, the reason being for the declaration of 2017 as YEAR OF THE NIGERIAN TELECOM CONSUMER by the Commission
Danbatta said the issue of empowerment and protection of the consumer occupies the sixth position in the 8-Points Agenda of my administration. “Being the independent telecom regulator in Nigeria, NCC recognizes that telecommunications services are very important to our nation, and more importantly, that the consumers of telecommunications services deserve to get value for their money, and be treated as a very important stakeholder in the scheme of things as far as service delivery is concerned.”

The telecom consumers at the Fair were presented with opportunity to express their concerns and challenges they face in the industry, while members of the Consumer Affairs Bureau Department proffered solutions to these challenges. The consumers were thrilled at the NCC’s Day as they participated in the Raffle Draws where 8 Android phones were won, as well as recharge cards.
