In keeping with its commitment to see to an improved environment for telecommunication services provision, the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC and the House Committee on Telecommunications commenced a Three-Day Retreat yesterday at Keffi, Nasarawa State.
Honourable Saheed Akinade-Fijabi, Chairman House of Representatives' Committee of Telecommunications; Honourable Chukwuemeka Ujam PhD, Deputy Chairman House of Representatives' Committee on Telecommunications; Prof. Umar Danbatta, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NCC; Mrs. Monilola Udoh, Director ICT Federal Ministry of Communications; Mrs. Yetunde Akinloye, Head Legal and Regulatory Services NCC; Dr. Bello Lawal of Bayero University Kano; Mr. Rotimi Ogunyemi, an ICT Attorney all made incisive presentations which implementation will impact positively on future developments of the telecom sector in Nigeria.Some of the presentations made at the retreat which focused on IMPROVING THE SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF NIGERIA THROUGH QUALITATIVE TELECOMMUNICATION SERVICES, include the following: Accelerating Development Through Broadband Penetration; Emerging Issues in Oversighting Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government; The Need for Data Protection; and Updating the Nigerian Communications Act 2003.
