The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, hosted a 3-Day summit of Strategy Focal Persons, otherwise called CHANGE CHAMPIONS at Keffi, Nasarawa State.

Convened annually by the Corporate Planning and Strategy Department of the Commission, the Summit is an assemblage of representatives of all departments in the Commission, who in addition to their core responsibilities work with their colleagues under the superintendency of Directors/Heads of Departments to oversee the implementation of Corporate Strategy to ensure adherence to policy and processes, as well as the success of the Strategic Management Plan 2014-2018 and other extant policies of the Commission.

Mr. Sunday Dare, the Executive Commissioner Stakeholder Management, who represented the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta, recalled the accomplishments of the Commission especially in sustaining growth of the economy despite the attendant challenges of telecommunication service provision. He enjoined staff not to be complacent on their oars because of centrality of telecommunication to the growth of all sectors of the economy.

Mr. Dare also recalled many of the Commission's collaboration with stakeholders to keep the tempo of sectoral contribution to GDP, most recently the intervention taken to address the challenges facing 9Mobile (former Etisalat) in other to avoid disruptions in operations and possible consequences to staff and subscribers on its network. He then asked participants at the Summit to focus on technology, people and service as they migrate towards the re-engineering of departmental strategies.

Organised with a focus on ICT Optimization for Maximum Operational Efficiency, the Summit is featuring presentations on policies and procedures in the context of the rising tempo and sophistication of deployment of new technologies, particularly how they might shape execution of job functions. Presentations are slated to be made on Information Technology, Public Affairs, Human Capital, and Zonal Operations management.

Quite typical of NCC events - despite targeting internal stakeholders - the Summit was very participatory, nudging lively discourse with a view to ensuring value addition and improvements in all areas of NCC operations.
