The Executive Vice Chairman of Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, Professor Umar Garba Danbatta, says Management of NCC is committed to staff health and welfare through the creation of platforms for staff to bond; to engage in healthy lifestyles; and to interact with each other outside the social geography and routine process of work.
Danbatta stated this earlier today in a message delivered on his behalf by Tony Ojobo, NCC's Director Public Affairs, at the maiden edition of NCC's Wellness Programme - KEEP FIT, DON'T QUIT.
The Programme, which began and terminated at the Millennium Park, involves medical/health vital signs check, over 60 minutes of walk, aerobics, music, pep talk on healthy lifestyles and raffle draw among others, is a central plank of Public Affairs Department's internal communication programme anchored on exercise as an indispensable component of healthy living. The EVC recalled that the Commission is already rated as exceptional in performance, a fact underscored by the increase in the quantity and quality of both local and international awards it has received. Danbatta explained that to whom much is given, much is expected, noting that NCC's determination to attain higher heights explains why an item on the 8-Point Agenda - Ensuring Regulatory Excellence and Operational Efficiency - is conceptualized as a self-imposed challenge to nudge staff to greater commitment to the organizational goal.
At the event, which was well attended with infectious enthusiasm by staff across all cadres, Danbatta reiterated that the averment by Management of NCC of 2017 as the YEAR OF THE NIGERIAN TELECOM CONSUMER is seminal, and every staff of the Commission remains an ambassador in the pursuit of that declaration to ensure that NCC makes a remarkable and measurable difference in the perception of the industry by consumers of telecommunications services in Nigeria.
